Short Legend Of Situ Bagendit

Situ Bagendit has its own legend. According to the legend or folklore, once upon a time there was a wealthy woman but miserly, named Nyai Endit. Nyai Endit was known very stingy and evil, especially to the poor people in that village, until the moment when she had a party, there was an old man appeared and asking her (Nyai Endit) for some foods. Because of her charecter like that, Nyai Endit did not give anything in the old man until he went away.

The next day the local people there become precarious because of the piece of stick that stuck in the village but there was no one who able to pull it out. Until finally the old man coming back and pull out the stick. The effect for pulling out that stick: water was flowing increase heavily and eventually drown the region. Nyi Endit with her greedy character, because of her love for treasure, she didn't want to leave her house and finally joined sink. And the water that flew continuosly lead the lake which for later would be called Situ Bagendit.



Overview

Situ Bagendit is a lake ("Situ" in sundanese means "Lake") that located in the district of Banyuresmi, Garut. Situ Bagendit is one of the most visited tourist attraction in Garut because it is easily accessible.

Distance between Situ Bagendit to center of Garut city is only about 4 kilometers away and can be reached by various vehicles. If you use public transportation, you can use "Angkot", a public transportation which depart you from Guntur terminal to Banyuresmi and will pass at the right side of Situ Bagendit directly. Another alternative is to rent a carriage or wagon or Delman from Tarogong.

So many tourist activities that you can do in Situ Bagendit. You can do around the lake with a small boat or water bike, or a leisurely stroll to enjoy the natural scenery around the lake. This area provides many exciting facilities leased to a tourist destination. Such as rental rafts provided in the amount of 60 pieces, which you can rent for Rp 25,000 / 15 min. There are also a water bikes leased a total of 11 pieces Rp 10.000 / 15 min. Mini train along the shore of a lake, a swimming pool for children or adults. Situ Bagendit usually crowded on Saturday to Sunday or on holidays.




In Situ Bagendit there is a parking area which is quite large. There is also a children's play facilities such as mini railway tracks, water bikes in SItu Bagendit, etc. Other facilities such as toilets and Mushala for moslem also available.

Till now, Situ Bagendit in Garut is still so fresh and beautiful. Situ Bagendit is located in the village Bagendit, Banyuresmi Garut. Situ Bagendit is an attraction that is quite beautiful and natural form of the lake.

Situ Bagendit has a pretty good quality living environment. Both in terms of the cleanliness of the building and its natural ecosystem. You have to know that the ownership of this attraction is the property of the Local Government of Garut, but the authority delegated to the Department of Tourism and Culture of Garut.

Development of Situ Bagendit is already planned by the department of tourism and run properly. Also provided a mosque for Muslims do worship there. Although there are some parts that must be repaired in order to create a comfortable and situation safe travel for all visitors. Situ Bagendit opens to the public from 7 am to 5 pm local time.
