1. Garut Swiss Van Java

The nickname 'Garut Swiss Van Java' or Garut the Switzerland of Java, was popular around the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, Garut known as the most attractive tourist destination in the world. Many great men came to Garut for a vacation. Established luxury hotels, tourist spots are managed and developed. In front of Garut Station, also established "Tourist Bureau" to serve the travelers. Garut also has a beautiful nature panoramic. That's so admirable i think. There were also mountain views in Garut which gave more beautiful of this town. The air was cool, and the atmosphere of this beautiful city adds the convenience of Garut.

Sheep is a typical animal of Garut. These animals in the Latin name called "Ovis Aries". Garut Sheep is a mixture marriage of local sheep with capstaad sheeps of South Africa and the Merino sheep from Autralia. From the three types of sheep born a new varietiy are then called Garut Sheep. Its appearance is so gallant and courageous, but remain calm and dignified. So, we don't have to surprised if Garut Sheep is just used for hobbies. Garut sheep prices can reach hundreds of million rupiah, especially for the sheep which is a Champion (jawara) of the battle.

3. Garut Pangirutan

Garut Pangirutan is an idiom which is not a joke that given to Garut. Pangirutan is form word "Irut", that mean 'beautiful'. So many world celebrities had come to Garut to travelling. Including Charlie Chaplin who visited Garut in 1928. Because of visited by many tourists, Garut become a meeting place of people from different continents.

4. Garut Kota Intan (Diamond City)

Various suffering caused by the war a little relieved when on December 8, 1960 President Sukarno visited to Garut. At that time, Garut led by the Regent Gahara Widjajasoeria. On his visit, Soekarno approved Garut has a nickname as the "Kota Intan" or in english 'Diamonds City'. The nickname was not without reason, because Garut was very clean and beautiful, even the cleanest city in Indonesia. It is the result of the leadership of the Regent Gahara who always maintain the cleanliness of the city, so that people there often do voluntary work without having governed. 'DIAMOND CITY' means the Beautiful City, Safe, Comfortable.

5. Garut Kota Dodol (City of Dodol)

Who does not know 'Dodol Garut', sweet and sticky snacks is a typical food of Garut. Popularity of Dodol Garut has to Worldwide. It has been exported to abroad like Dubai and Taiwan. If you come to Garut, dodol is the important thing that must be taken to your town. Dodol Garut has many various of shapes or taste. There are beans dodol, fruits dodol, some angleng and etc. And it can be found in stores or sellers of typical souvenirs of Garut. So it is not wrong if Garut called as City of Dodol.
